What Is a Video Wall?
A Video Wall consists of several professional 55-inch LCD displays assembled side by side to form one large display surface.
Each display measures approximately 121 × 68 cm and features ultra-thin bezels ranging from 1 to 3 mm, depending on the manufacturer and model.
This technology makes it possible to create very large display walls extending over several metres in width.
A dedicated Video Wall controller (or processor) divides the incoming video signal into multiple sections, assigning one section to each display.
The Limitations of Video Walls
Although each LCD panel offers excellent image quality, Video Walls have one inherent limitation: the bezels between the displays remain visible.
As a result, thin horizontal and vertical lines appear every 68 cm and 121 cm, corresponding to the dimensions of each monitor.
For applications such as digital signage, surveillance rooms, dashboards, or information displays, these seams are generally not an issue.
However, for high-end presentations, immersive video content, or branding applications, the visible borders can disrupt the viewing experience.
What Is an LED Wall?
An LED Wall is built from modular panels containing thousands of RGB SMD LEDs.
The size of these LEDs typically ranges from 0.5 mm to 6 mm, depending on:
- the desired resolution;
- the viewing distance;
- the intended application;
- the capabilities of the video processor.
Unlike a Video Wall, LED panels are assembled without visible bezels.
The result is a perfectly seamless display that appears as one continuous screen, regardless of its size.
